This bespoke staircase was custom-designed to complement the character of a traditional West Yorkshire home. The design features "open risers," meaning there are gaps between the horizontal treads. This creates a more modern, airy feel and allows light to pass through the structure. The staircase is split into two distinct sections. The lower flight leads to a central platform, where the path of travel reverses direction by 180 degrees to reach the upper floor.
Fitting this staircase was a game of millimetres. We were working within such a narrow architectural envelope that being off by even an inch in either direction would have resulted in a non-compliant installation.
